Dragoon Dancehall on the Rock

You heard that right, back in the 1930's you could walk all the way up those stairs to dance the night away! Named, "Skyline", up 150 steps and one was dancing 100 feet above Texas Canyon !

Then at the end of the night, better hope you or your buddies didn't imbibe too much because you'd have to go back down all those stairs to get home!

Today the dancehall is no longer, but of course, the large rock can still be seen from Dragoon Road at the sharp curve a few hundred yards south of the I-10 interchange.

Dance Hall Rock Today

Reportedly, the dancehall was uninstalled because so many people descended without using all the stairs. It became too much of a liability issue. Does that surprise anyone?

And please, as the sign shows, this is private property, no trespassing!
